New IEEE RAS Technical Committee in Marine Robotics

The Robotics and Automation Society AdCom has approved a new RAS Technical Committee (TC) in Marine Robotics

Organizers of the Marine Robotics TC include Gianluca Antonelli, corresponding and membership chair, Andrew Bennett, Hayato Kondo, Giacomo Marani, Richard Rikoski, Dan Stilwell, and Junku Yuh.

The Marine Robotics TC covers several aspects of the corresponding area, both for the underwater and surface vehicles. The following, illustrative, list of topics should drive the research interests of the TC:

  • actuation and sensing systems
  • communication
  • manipulation
  • interaction
  • guidance, navigation and control
  • mission control systems
  • localization
  • fault detection/tolerance
  • multiple coordinated vehicles
  • networked vehicles
  • etc…
